Course description
The aim of the course is to enable students to acquire a good knowledge on mechanisms and pathogenesis related to viral infection in humans.
On completion of the course the student is expected to be able to account for:
- taxonomic subdivision of viruses.
- the most important human pathogenetic viruses.
- the molecular mechanisms of the virus life cycle
- emerging viruses and pandemics
- viral pathogenesis
- virological methods in research
- viral immunology, antiviral therapy and vaccination.
This course is given in collaboration with the Master's Programme in Biomedicine.

Selection will be based on:
1) the relevance of the course syllabus for the applicant’s individual study plan/research (according to written motivation).
2) start date of doctoral studies (priority given to earlier start date).
