Course description
The course Medical Developmental Biology is an exchange course between Karolinska Institutet and University of Toronto, Canada. In 2024, the course will take place i Toronto, Canada. Travel and housing costs are covered by the course.
The course topic is related to principles of developmental biology and how they are applicable to disease during early stages in live or later because of events or exposure during perinatal development. The course further aims to discuss ethical concepts and challenges of this type of research. The structure of the course is interactive research seminars on relevant topics by researchers from both universities. In addition, there are study visits and workshops within relevant topics.
A central aspect of the course is building longstanding international networks. This is fostered by the fact that students and teachers travel to Toronto. There are also extensive social activities organized both by the teachers and two students acting as social coordinators.

Selection will be based on:
1) the relevance of the course syllabus for the applicant’s doctoral project (according to written motivation).
2) start date of doctoral studies (priority given to earlier start date).
