Course description
Data is the currency of the modern world, and data science is revolutionising the way we understand and study human diseases. Therefore, having skills in data analysis is no longer an option, but rather a part of every researcher's toolkit. With that in mind, this course is designed to help individuals with no background in bioinformatics learn some basic principles, with the aim that every person can implement and develop this skill more easily and quickly after completing the course. We do not aim to have expert bioinformaticians after the course is complete. Instead, we aim to pique your curiosity and show you how to learn bioinformatics on your own, teaching you some tools to implement in your own data analyses.
Prerequisites and Selection
Prerequisite courses, or equivalent
Basic knowledge in molecular biology from undergraduate level.
Selection
Selection will be based on:
1) students with minimal or NO prior knowledge in bioinformatics.
2) the relevance of the course syllabus for the applicant’s individual study plan/research (according to the written motivation)
3) start date of doctoral studies (priority given to earlier start date)
