Course description
Ever thought about making a mixed-methods study? Ever wanted to combine different data to provide a more wholistic understanding of a phenomenon? Designed for PhD students, this course provides in-depth knowledge of the mixed-methods research process. You'll learn to describe theoretical assumptions, identify and explain study designs, apply diverse sampling techniques, integrate qualitative and quantitative data, and ensure scientific quality. By the end of the course, you'll be equipped to apply mixed methods to your own research and critically review mixed-methods studies.
Prerequisites and Selection
Prerequisite courses, or equivalent
Knowledge and/or skills in basic quantitative and qualitative methodology (for example knowledge equivalent to basic courses such as course 2673 Introduction to Qualitative methods, and 2609 Basic course in medical statistics (3 hp) given at KI, or equivalent knowledge aquired elesewhere)
Selection
Selection will be based on:
1) the relevance of the course syllabus for the applicant’s individual study plan/research (according to written motivation).
2) start date of doctoral studies (priority given to earlier start date).
