Course description
Substance use disorders constitute a significant public health issue globally and has major consequences for the individual, families and the society at large. Research in the area of substance use disorder has significantly increased in the recent years, with developments regarding both new methods for studying the psychological and neurobiological mechanisms of this disorder, the epidemiology of disorder and effective methods for treatment.
In this course, the doctoral student will learn about the biological and psychological models for the development and maintenance of substance use disorder, methods for studying it and the different evidence based treatment available in the field. An important part of the course is to critically and constructively reflect on one's own and others' research methods for studying different aspects of substance use disorders. An additional goal of the course it to develop networks with other addiction researchers in Sweden.

1) the relevance of the course syllabus for the applicant’s doctoral project (according to written motivation).
2) start date of doctoral studies (priority given to earlier start date).
