Course description
In this course you will receive an introduction to the field of health eoncomics and different evaluation methodologies including costing, cost-effectiveness, cost-utility and cost-of-illness. This course also explores global health care financing mechanisms, emphasizing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and financial protection metrics. We address the unique challenges of conducting health economic evaluations in low- and middle-income countries, equipping you with the skills to navigate these complex environments.
Through a blend of “live” online lectures, online assignments, and interactive discussions, this course is designed to enhance your analytical capabilities and prepare you for impactful research in the field of global health economics.
Prerequisites and Selection
Prerequisite courses, or equivalent
Students should be familiar with basic concepts of health economics.
Selection
Selection will be based on:
1) the relevance of the course syllabus for the applicant’s individual study plan/research (according to written motivation).
2) start date of doctoral studies (priority given to earlier start date).
