Course description
This course offers doctoral students an engaging and comprehensive exploration of research ethics, with a special focus on global and public health. Through interactive lectures, case studies, and discussions, students will delve into central ethical theories, principles, and guidelines that shape responsible research. The curriculum covers the foundations of good scientific practice, the boundaries of ethically acceptable research involving humans and animals, and the importance of academic integrity. Students will critically examine ethical challenges in diverse research contexts, including studies with children, vulnerable populations, and research conducted in low-resource or fragile settings. By reflecting on real-world dilemmas and learning from a variety of perspectives, participants will develop the skills to identify, analyze, and address ethical issues in their own research and in the broader scientific community.
